Packaging involves dicing semiconductor wafers into separate chips, die bonding, wire bonding, and encapsulating chips in protective plastic. Amkor's testing procedures verify current, function, timing, and voltage. The company has some 225 customers worldwide, including big semiconductor companies and electronics makers, such as Altera, Broadcom, IBM, Infineon, LSI, QUALCOMM, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, and Toshiba. About 70% of Amkor's sales come from outside the US.
