Operating primarily through regulated utility Artesian Water, the company provides water in all three Delaware counties (New Castle, Kent, and Sussex). Its 75,800 customer accounts represent about 250,000 Delaware residents, about 29% of the state's population; residential customers account for 94% of the utility's water sales. Artesian pumps about 17.9 million gallons of water daily from its wells, then sends it to customers through more than 1,100 miles of mains and some 5,230 hydrants.
