Who says a car is just a big hunk of steel? China XD Plastics, through subsidiary Harbin Xinda, makes plastic used for car parts. The company annually produces about 135,000 tons of modified polypropylene, nylon, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, and alloy plastics used in dashboards, glove boxes, door panels, seats, and bumpers, as well as A/C vents, intake manifolds, and fuel tanks. Its plastics are found in more than 60 automobile brands manufactured in China, including Audi, Mazda, and Volkswagen. It also makes engineered plastics and environment-friendly plastics used to assemble equipment for oilfields, mining, ship power, and power stations. CEO Jie Han owns almost three-quarters of the company's stock.
