In the beginning was the oil. And on the third day (or thereabouts) there was oil gathering, transportation, marketing, and related activities. Genesis Energy purchases and aggregates crude oil at the wellhead and makes bulk buys at pipeline and terminal facilities for resale. The company transports crude oil (and CO2) through 1,437 miles of pipeline, primarily along the US Gulf Coast. Genesis Energy has a storage capacity of 3.3 million barrels, and a fleet of 300 trucks, 400 trailers, and 522 railcars that carry oil from the wellhead to end users. It also provides sulfur-related refinery services to eight refineries, and is engaged in wholesale CO2 and other industrial gas marketing.
