United Bancshares is a blend of checks and (account) balances. The institution is the holding company for The Union Bank Company, a community bank serving northwestern Ohio through about a dozen branches. The commercial bank offers such retail services and products as checking and savings accounts, NOW and money market accounts, IRAs, and CDs. It uses funds from deposits to write commercial loans (about half of its lending portfolio), residential mortgages, agriculture loans, and consumer loans. The Union Bank Company was originally established in 1904.
