Atwood Oceanics is at work in oceans all over the world. An offshore oil and gas drilling contractor, the firm owns about a dozen drilling rigs, including six semisubmersible rigs, five jack-ups, and one semisubmersible tender assist vessel (which places drilling equipment on permanent platforms). Its rigs operate in the Gulf of Mexico, offshore Southeast Asia, offshore West Africa, offshore Australia, and in the Mediterranean. Atwood Oceanics serves a limited number of customers at one time and generates nearly all of its sales internationally.
