Operating as an umbrella partnership real estate investment trust (UPREIT), it owns (but does not operate) nearly 30 upper-upscale hotels with about 11,000 rooms in the North America and the US Virgin Islands, with an emphasis on major urban markets such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boston, as well as destination resorts. Its hotels are operated under the banners of Hilton Worldwide, Marriott International, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, and Westin. DiamondRock mostly operates through its taxable REIT subsidiary Bloodstone TRS.
