Sold as aftermarket add-ons, its Transcrypt-branded products include security modules that encrypt and decode radio and wireless phone signals to prevent eavesdropping. EF Johnson sells directly and through dealers and equipment makers. It has counted DRS Technologies, Sprint Nextel, and the US Department of Defense among its clients. In 2014 EF Johnson was bought by JVC KENWOOD.
