Matson Alaska, Inc.
Horizon Lines rides the waves to connect the mainland US with its far-flung states and territories. The container shipping company transports cargo, such as building materials, consumer goods, and foodstuffs, to and from the continental US and Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Horizon Lines maintains a fleet of about 15 containerships and 30,000 cargo containers; it also operates five port terminals. The majority of its revenue comes from operations subject to the Jones Act, which restricts marine shipping between US ports to companies with vessels that are US built/owned/crewed.
