Minerals Technologies can brighten your day. Its precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) products brighten and whiten paper, polymers, and teeth. Paper mills are major users of PCC -- many of the company's facilities are adjacent to paper mills -- along with food and pharmaceutical companies, which use it for calcium and as a buffering agent in tablets. PCC products account for more than half of Minerals Technologies' sales. The company's processed mineral products also include lime (used to make PCC), limestone, and talc. Minerals Technologies also sells monolithic and pre-cast refractory products, which are used to coat steel, cement, and glass production surfaces with high-temperature-resistant material.
