The fast-growing company operates about 75 stores in more than a dozen states that sell natural and organic food, including fresh produce, meat, frozen food, and non-perishable bulk food; vitamins and dietary supplements; personal care products; pet care products; and books. The company uses United Natural Foods as its primary distributor, and it also runs a bulk food repackaging facility and distribution center in its home state of Colorado. Founded by Margaret and Philip Isely in 1958, Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage is run by members of the Isely family. The chain went public in 2012.
