Tejon Ranch Co
Homes and nut farming are on the range for Tejon Ranch. Once one of the largest cattle ranches in the US, the company hasn't run livestock on its 270,000 acres in more than a decade. Instead, Tejon Ranch has focused on wine grapes, almonds, and pistachio farming on its land, which is located 60 miles north of Los Angeles. It also leases oil and gas and other mineral royalties; develops residential and commercial real estate; and leases the land for gaming, grazing, and filming. The historic ranch founded in 1843 hasn't totally sold out: Tejon Ranch stuck a deal in 2008 with major environmental groups to conserve about 90% of the vast chunk of open land, or about 240,000 acres.
