Vonage Holdings helped ring in a new era of communications by providing telephone service over the internet to consumers. Now the company is building cloud-based communications services for businesses. Its Voice-Over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) service enables some 2.5 million consumer subscribers to turn their high-speed Internet connections into long-distance phone lines for domestic or international calls. On the business side Vonage has relied on acquisitions to build out its Unified Communications offerings. The company offers two services with voice, text, video, data, and mobile facets for commercial customers. Vonage Essentials targets small and medium-sized businesses while Vonage Premier goes after the enterprise field.
