Zion Oil and Gas is on a mission in Israel. As an oil and gas exploration company, Zion has exploration operations primarily on two onshore properties that cover about 162,000 acres between Tel-Aviv and Haifa. The company operates through two licenses that were issued by the State of Israel, and it owns 100% of the working interest in both licenses. When it eventually discovers oil and gas, Zion has stated that it will focus its production operations on helping Israel become a more energy-independent country. The company, which was founded in 2000 by chairman John M. Brown, went public in 2007.
